March Review

1. City Manager Willie Norfleet, Jr. had his contract renewed by City Council. Mr. Norfleet will now be with Socorro until 2016.
2. The Waters Group is in charge of searching for a Police Chief. They will present the final three candidates to our Civil Service Commission in April. Civil Service will then present a final candidate to City Council for approval.
3. Ordinance 257 was amended to ban electronic cigarettes from public and work places. The ban does not prevent the sale or private use of electronic cigarettes.

The Public Comment Form is for people who wish not to speak at the city council meeting but would rather express his/her opinion in a written statement. All comment forms should be turned into the City Clerk before the end of the meeting.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can pick up a comment form at City Hall Administration at 124 S. Horizon Boulevard, or at Municipal Court House at 860 Rio Vista. Boards and Commissions

City of Socorro is seeking individuals who would like to serve on a board or commission. Members will make recommendations regarding policy matters that affect Socorro. If you are interested in volunteering, please submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office. All appointments to boards and commissions are made by the City Council.

Tax Rate Information

City of Socorro adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate; the tax rate will effectively be raised by 4.5 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $ 100,000 home by approximately 19.30.
